I have spent much of my working life in international business, as an executive, entrepreneur, founder and board member. And one thing I have learned is that the more responsibility you carry, the fewer people you may feel comfortable discussing everything with.
You have colleagues, advisers and a board. But sometimes you need someone outside it all. Someone who understands business, has made difficult decisions themselves and has no personal interest in the outcome.
I have always enjoyed these one-to-one conversations.
I know from experience how valuable they can be. I regularly invest in private executive mentoring myself, and I have never regretted finding the right person to talk things through with.
Of course, there is a price attached. But how do you put a price on an honest, independent conversation that might change an important decision? Is it worth one euro or a million? I suppose that depends on the conversation. And the decision. 🙂
At Maersk, in building the business that became Cadeler, and through my board work, I have experienced many sides of leadership. As curator of TEDxFrederiksberg, and as a speaker myself, including at the TEDx anniversary gathering in Rome, I have also enjoyed helping people develop their ideas and express what they really mean.
And life has taught me a few things that never appeared on my CV.
That is why I now offer a small number of private executive mentoring engagements alongside my board responsibilities.
No standard programme or coaching formula. Just confidential, honest conversations, drawing on experience from business and life.
